Union Parish Title 1 Parent Night

Over three hundred parents, grandparents, students, faculty, and other interested community members filled the Farmerville High School Auditorium October 20thfor the Union Parish Title I Parent Night. Everyone enjoyed a fun-filled, informative, and interactive presentation by Rodney McPherson, the Plato/Math Testing Facilitator for Union Parish Schools. The evening focused on how technology is being used in parish classrooms and homes to improve student achievement. Attendees were shown how Union Parish is the first school district in the nation to implement scanning technology combined with online remedial software prescriptions for students.

Each family attending received a special gift and enjoyed refreshments at the conclusion of the gathering. Linville High School Principal Glenda Reynolds accepted the prize of a gift certificate for her school for having the largest percentage of parents in attendance.

Pamela Tackett, Curriculum/Parent Coordinator for Union Parish Schools and organizer of the event, thanks everyone for the tremendous turnout and interest in the district's successes in meeting the challenges of school accountability.
