The philosophy of Downsville High School is that of the quality education for each of its students. Being aware of its limitations, the school remains determined to exhaust every possible means to promote learning and adjustment experiences so that the students may reach their personal, social, and economic responsibility to self, family, and society. The ultimate goal of the school is to equip the students to live in harmony, productivity, and progress that will be a preservation of the American way of life. Being aware that teachers are part-time parents, and parents are part-time teachers, the faculty promotes a close relationship with the parents and community; we strive toward teaching subject matter as well as social, civic, and professional responsibilities.
The immediate goals of the school are concerned with helping each student gain skills, attitudes, adaptations, and evaluations that lead to the far-reaching goals of adult life as self-confident, competitive, "well-rounded" adults. The school places emphasis on vocational training and teaching of the "whole" child for practical living, as well as offering in depth training for those who intend to pursue college training. Downsville High School endeavors to prepare students to recognize and solve practical problems and become productive citizens in whichever area of society they choose.
