It�s hard to believe that half the school year is over and our spring testing is just around the corner. Please be sure to free your calendar for the week of March 14^th as it is important that all students be rested and prepared for that important time. We are providing several opportunities for students to review and prepare for the tests�review classes are held daily for 8^th graders in each core subject�all students in grades 7-11 participate in activity period test preparation classes twice a week�after school tutoring is being held at several grade levels�and evaluation materials have been purchased for each grade level for the LEAP/GEE 21. As you can see, we are truly concerned for the success of your child.

Students are out of school Monday, February 21^st for President�s Day and on Tuesday, February 22^nd for teacher�s inservice day. Spring/Easter Break is from March 25^th until April 1^st. A very important opportunity to vote for Union Parish Schools is coming up April 2^nd. Please vote FOR the 15 mill property tax so that wise decisions can be made for our future. Mark your calendars for May 9^th � our graduation day. As you can see, there is a lot to plan for over the next few months.

Thanks to your generosity at our 2003 Fall Festival, four classrooms in our school were recently equipped with new desks which allowed all classrooms to upgrade their desk conditions. This is yet another phase of our �Make a Difference in Downsville� started in September, 2003. Other projects, such as playground improvements, assembly of playground equipment, and landscaping are in the production stage. Very soon, each playground will have several pieces of new equipment.
