ANOTHER FACTOR DRIVING CHANGE IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM OF UNION PARISH

Redesign

High schools in Louisiana are changing.  This change is driven by the high rate of dropouts, low attendance and lack of preparedness for post high school years.  Implementation for these projected changes will begin in 2008 with incoming freshman.

Many of the recommended changes require better utilization of staff and resources within districts to provide students with skills necessary for tomorrow’s job market.  To meet these deadlines, Union Parish must begin now to look at the recommendations from the Louisiana State Department of Education.
